hi there, im pretty new linux (about 2 years of experience) , ive got serious problem. - using ubuntu 9.04 jaunty jackalope 32bit stable relase had 2 os in computer. 1. winshit xp , 2. ubuntu then, have reinstall windows xp windows 2000. know win had rewrited mbr. im gonna recover grub. boot 9.04 livecd , tried recover grub using method :: reinstall ubuntu live cd, marking same partition "/" without formatting went right, when got partition manager, shows there isnt partition (got 1 40gb disk , 10gb ntfs win , 30gb ext4 linux), free disk. ok then. had booted again live cd , tried mount ntfs partition. ok. then, try mount ex4 partition. nothing. went terminal , tried mount manually using commands :: sudo mkdir /mnt/root sudo mount -t ext4 /dev/sda2 /mnt/root , shows error :: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda2, missing codepage or helper program, or other error should do??? hi, i'm trying pypy, python jit compiler, rather cpython, interpreter. pypy not finding non-standard libraries such smbus, , gpio & rpio part of 'import' in python code. interpreter does find these. assumption pypy picking libraries providing python api's /usr/lib/python2.7/* - directory not include smbus, gpio or rpio libraries. interpreter has additional library path entries pointing directory these addition libraries live in. based on speculation, if i've got right, need find equivalent path setting in pypy installation , add directories. python interpreter detailed knowledge know whether speculation right, , if so, how set library path pypy include on cpython path (which haven't located). thanks, hove pypy , cpython aren't 100% compatible, pypy has few issues libraries use native code (such rpi.gpio , smbus etc), standard modules included python present in pypy because have been ported pypy. raspberrypi

i'm running 64-bit ubuntu , have installed disc-cover. load disk , obtain cd cover, including image obtained -allmusic option. output files using -t option .pdf, .ps, , .tex formats. want view file. evince document reader able open .pdf file. .ps file, says "loading" , hangs. .tex file says not supported. change extension of .tex file .dvi , again says unsupported. evince documentation says should able handle 3 file types doesn't gimp able open .ps file. there compatibility issue or bug don't know here? if bug, should logged correction? also, working on gui disc-cover? thanks! is possible have 2 pi's signal each other through gpio connectors? imagine wiring be: connect gpio grounds each other. example have gpio 4 on pi-one set input. gpio 4 on pi-two set output, high or low. connect both gpio 4's together. 1 pi go high or low, , other pi read high or low. work? don't want damage 2 pi's trying : p yes, that'll work. doesn't have gpio4 gpio4, can 2 gpios. doesn't have on different pi, use gpio4 send signals gpio17 (for instance) on same pi. raspberrypi

hi everybody! i have basic (and perhaps stupid) question connecting 2 digital pins (output , input) without using ground or 5v/3.3v output. so, simplest example can think of, digital pin 9 connected push button connected resistor(10kohm) connected pin 8. an ascii drawing this: d9 - pushbutton - resistor(10kohm) - d8 d8 digital input, d9 digital output. in tutorials , examples, guys using ground or 5v/3.3v output. i have read in documentation, that, if pin declared output, provides ~5v. my assumption is, if declare pin input, grounded. right? and therefore circuit diagram should correct. but correct or have connect pin power source or ground additionally (and if so, why?)? thx! yes! can work.  (you don't need resistor.) the input & output pins both share common ground (which reference point).   so, if connect them together, both have same voltage, referenced same ground.    now... if had 2 different arduinos , each powered...

hi, i hope right forum this, i'd make suggestions. we've built number of sites mambo , joomla , think fantastic framework. types of customers set them businesses want manage medium sized website in easier , more structrued way. suggestion 1: found complicated explain difference between content items , static content. suggestion rid of static content altogether, @ least frontend component manages in 1 piece anyway. (slightly) simplify menu manager, administration , main backend page. to make easy users fill in 1 'box' (we have heard objection using content items), why not have javascript switch 1 editor setup of static content , 2 editor setup of content items. i must admit have not gone through parameters both of these admin pages , there might conflicts. suggestion 2: instead of using first entry of mainmenu load first page, can set in global configuration. see dropdown of menu entries , can select 1 go for. this minor change , sites have 'home' @ end of 'm...

hello trying build server client application laptop server , pi client . tried first run sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6cohfrrnto on pi client , server (localhost) did not errors did not see server getting messeage??? pls hello, help, not spend lot of time in viewing lengthy video. pls post client , server code, help. be, ip-addresses not valid. on laptop (server, windows?) use ipconfig find out current ipaddress. on pi(== client), ping laptop: in teminal, type ' ping <servers's ip>'. should see 'reply ... in ms ' or alike. if 'no route' or 'all failed' or other bad messages, there either no ip-connection (no cable), or firewall on laptop not allow remote access. experiments this, disable firewall time (in paranoia mode, disable world connections during time). then, ensure use validated ip-address of laptop in pi's client code. , possibly code should work luck gerhard raspberrypi

i have query joining 2 tables , output in 3 columns. familiar doing it, cannot seem data in question. query returns 27 parent categories , around 200 sub (child) categories related. tries using mod 3 number of results not work. what see 3 columns below.
