Another power to external hard drive question - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi all,

i'm trying not use powered hub. possible supply power usb drive disconnecting power wires in usb cable on pi side , directly connecting same power supply used pi usb cable. don't want back-feed pi.

in other words, data wires connected between pi , usb drive. 5v wire , ground usb drive connected power supply. work assuming power supply can supply enough current both?

, if above work, 5v wire connected power supply , keep ground connected between pi , usb device?

thank in advance, sorry if has been asked before tried best searching forum.

will work may have build own cables or modify existing cables.
must maintain ground return between ps , devices.

Crossfader Arduino Tutorial

hello i'm super newb please don't bash me much. i'm using led's , i've connected them correctly (finally) , wondering why program here ( http://www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/colorcrossfader ) doesn't work? say's haven't declared crossfade. read directions on top , said crossfade needs used list order of colors. isn't declared in main part (void loop() )? or need declared before? nevermind void on bottom , needed before voidloop. lol anyways playing rgb led's wondering if has specific way of making them fade in , out different colors?
