The Pi is to weak for XBMC (solved) - Raspberry Pi Forums
hello,
, utterly frustrated raspberry pi,
after many hours-long sessions of tinkering , tweaking, ahve still found not suited task intended for, namely running xbmc. specifically, wanted connect nas headless, stream music (not video!) , control via android remote control android tablet.
well, frustrating. don't believe music collection large current standards. it's not small, doesn't exceed standard media player application should able handle ease.
anyway, takes xbmc-distros on pi several minutes bring list of titles shared nas.
hardware slow handle task in decent time (i excluded nas being culprit. saturates network 1,2ghz , 512mb ram).
cannot fathom how have been advertised being tool use media centre.
writing see if can tell me why should not sell 2 raspis (i never thought it'd require zen use them - anything) , keep trying.
(btw can't use them lowly task of print server, because printer drivers not come compiled arm , won't compile on pi either)

odd. use xbmc using dnla wireless stream video desktop pc , absolutely fine. tbh i'm surprised how fast is. contention hw slow incorrect, since others have not got problem. so, leads me think have setup issue somewhere.
so, how nas share data - dnla or samba? said dnla seems work fine, , think dom uses samba , works fine. have music in 1 folder on nas or in tree structure? how many titles? wired or wireless? version of xbmc using? use openelec, try reference. there's not enough information in post to real diagnosis though.
