Newbie setting up a OneWire temp logging & upload to net - Raspberry Pi Forums


hi all,

id log series of 30 temperatures on 1 wire setup using raspberry pi, uploading data internet. must reliable , self rebooting unlikely return until possibly on year.....so i'd welcome , guidance please:)

have basic electronic skills , vb.net programming skills think should able master python degree need in order project off ground.

have today ordered pi, sd card 4gb, box pi, power supply, keyboard , mouse, pi cobbler, 305m roll of cat 5e , 30 ds18b20, waterproof, not.

plan monitor temps of- 2 wells(top , bottom), 2 swimming pools(top , bottom), bank of 12 solar panels use heat pools(output), 2 solar panels on roof of house used heat hot water house(output), 12kw heat pump used heat floor in house(input , output), input heat pump's ground loops , 3 outputs, solar hot water tank temperatures(2 of them), air temps outside house , inside house , inside 2 holiday gites. live in england, project house in france.

need make sure have need before leave france on monday, guessing have snake of cat5e around properties ds18b20s hanging off , located in aforementioned places , plugged pi have ethernet connection. easy bit? :lol: having never booted pi on steep learning curve!
