Thread: locked myself out

hi guys,

looked around in forum , couldn't find answer needed.

installed ubuntu 8.04 lts.

bothered me there group username.

issued command
sudo usermod -g localusersgroup myusername
sudo usermod -g localusersgroup myusername
change primary group

then
sudo groupdel thegroupwithmyusername

rebooted see what's that

well, getent group showed me got rid of group, hurray !

can't sudo no more
username not in sudoers file. incident reported.

, of course, issuing "su" password doesn't work either...
nor sudo -i

suggestion ??

quote posted uge view post
sudo usermod -g localusersgroup myusername
you've removed groups. you'll have boot livecd , edit /etc/group there.

there bunch of groups want part of.
issueing "id" livecd should tell of them.
"man group" know file contains.
