Thread: Computer running very slow, trouble with partition size

i switched on gentoo because started resembling windows partition; in other words, had wait few minutes after booting run anything, , simple things minimizing window make computer lock few seconds (it great long time, though). anyway, downloaded latest kubuntu last night since kde better gnome. konsole takes 10 sec open! keep in mind have ~250 mb ram, better off gnome?

last, linux partition (ext3) 9 gb tried making larger time around. shaved 3 gb off windows (ntfs) partition , goes 13 gb unusable partition. tried making ext3 larger, no dice. can enlarge ntfs one, though. how can go fixing this?

switching gnome not make difference.

have considered simple window manager such blackbox, fluxbox or enlightenment?
