Transistor Controlled 6x6 LED Matrix
just quick question,
i have made matrix below:

bigger version: http://obr-recording.co.uk/arduino/big.png
edit: connections marked small black square on crossing.
the resistors not 1k! put schematic package posting here. transistor base resistors 120r connected arduino digital io pins; , others (in matrix) 82r.
the matrix works fine, found if remove 5v collectors of top transistors, i.e. turn off external psu, matrix still runs , presumably driven arduino.
i assumed transistor merely acting switch, switching power anodes, , second set of transistors switching ground cathodes?

yes, current base of top npn flow out of emitter , power leds. add current coming collector.
