hello all.,
new raspberry pi, have ordered 1 internet, within 2 days in transit.
have few questions , clear basics before go ahead , use in project.

have ordered start pi , 2 items left, power adapter , sd card.

1) read if connect more power consuming hardwares usb of pi's eat current , make rpi unstable.
question whats maximum ampere power adapter can use ?
modmypi selling 1 2amp. can use 3-4amp power adapter ? wont have use powered usb hub.


2)i going use pi remote/local surveillance project there's gonna lots of read , write on sd card , read , cause problems sd cards aren't made lots of reads , writes, gonna use usb flash drive root partition,
question whats maximum usb flash drive can connect rpi without connecting external hub?
32gb / 64gb/ 128 gb ?
compatibility issues ? specific make of usb flash drive ?

3) depending on price of hdd , usb flash drive, can go sata hdd , connect using sata usb adapter,
comes power adapter power hdd, question , there limitation hdds size can connect pi?
can use 2tb hdd/ 3tb hdd/ 4tb hdd or 2x 4 tb hdds ?

1. there no advantage using adaptor above 1a, since input fuse rated 1a , blow. unless backpower through usb port, or through header, max current pi + connected stuff can take 1a. can use powered usb hub work around though. (the model pi takes ~500ma while model b pi takes ~700ma, means stuff can take 500ma , 300ma respectively.)
2. there should no issues. note thumbdrives based on same tech sd cards, mean wear down in long run. same goes solid state memory (they wear down quick), see (3).
3. 2tb simplest go. larger needs gpt little complicated, possible, double check around forum. think find http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpbb3/viewt ... 26&t=12351 quite relevant issue.

edit: (1), if willing void warranty can bridge fuse. it's green thing on bottom side of pi around micro-usb connector area.

Crossfader Arduino Tutorial

hello i'm super newb please don't bash me much. i'm using led's , i've connected them correctly (finally) , wondering why program here ( http://www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/colorcrossfader ) doesn't work? say's haven't declared crossfade. read directions on top , said crossfade needs used list order of colors. isn't declared in main part (void loop() )? or need declared before? nevermind void on bottom , needed before voidloop. lol anyways playing rgb led's wondering if has specific way of making them fade in , out different colors?
