[HELP] Suddenly Arduino Mega ADK Lost serial connection in Win7 32bit

hi all.

i using arduino mega adk right now, having project android.
the trouble mega adk lost connection windows when running sketch.

the situtation this:
1. mega adk running before, can upload blink sketch, try lcd 16x2, etc
2. today have finish project android, , make revision on android , arduino.
3. ok, set , ready test, using external power supply (12v ; 2,5a) plug dc power jack in arduino mega adk, plug usb type adk board , plug type b usb.
4. plug power supply power outlet , usb laptop (win7 32bit) , plug android usb android device (t-mobile g1).
5. working nicely, , want test it, shake android , move around, , in serial monitor data need out.
6. maybe 30minutes, lost arduino adk on laptop, serial monitor closed, nothing happen, nothing message appear in windows.
7. unplug usb on laptop , android devices, plug usb laptop (still using external power supply), , nothing happen, windows did not detect arduino adk, device manager did not detect com port or dfu mode, tried on pc winxp, same happen, no com port, no dfu detected.
8. try without power supply, usb, in laptop , pc, , same condition, windows did not detect com port in device manager.
8. power led still on, , notice nothing burned.

this i've done till now.
1. check atmega2560 using external programmer, , works, blink , fade works fine, usb host woks too.
2. notice near atmega8u2 chip, exist icsp, i've tried upload mega-dfu_and_usbserial_combined.hex, , done, result zero, laptop , pc did not detect dfu or com port.

any suggestion how solve this?

i have same problem. serial connection had been working, went away last week. have tried 6 different computers, running windows 7, windows xp, mac os, , ubuntu linux. have had intermitent success using serial monitor, not there. on tools menu, serial port grayed out. have been using mega 2560. troubles started after tried uploading program duemillenove. can't upload program either arduino. bootloader damaged? if so, how restore it?

Crossfader Arduino Tutorial

hello i'm super newb please don't bash me much. i'm using led's , i've connected them correctly (finally) , wondering why program here ( http://www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/colorcrossfader ) doesn't work? say's haven't declared crossfade. read directions on top , said crossfade needs used list order of colors. isn't declared in main part (void loop() )? or need declared before? nevermind void on bottom , needed before voidloop. lol anyways playing rgb led's wondering if has specific way of making them fade in , out different colors?
