Thread: making my ubuntu transparent
hello community,
i'm develeping individual intrusion detection solution company. decided use ubuntu 8.10 sensor operating system, because, image ist compatible hardware can use. ok, part of solution i've installed snort via synaptic, , started use community roles. ubuntu alerts itsself when snort reports system tries connect snmp 161 on several clients in neighborhood, , somtimes nets broadcast adress (snmp too)....does know default running ubuntu processes so? or can give me starting point, can read about: configuring ubuntu make nothing? know, i'm little bit afraid, cannot determine active network actions coming from. snort safe ? have ever been backdoors implemented snort distributions ?...ok @ , i'll configure iptables, nothing forwarded except of management server commucication, before want sure ubuntu quiet....thanks comments!
