New to Joomla, wanting to intergrate with forum software - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
now have been using invision power board , other cms/portals in past.
eg. http://www.andrewbogut.com.au
but latest project thought try , learn different. have got joomla working , looking @ installing forum go it. want forum action is, if know mean.
from looking @ site see using smf, seams similar invision. i'm little confused joomla - smf bridge or component??? difference??
would right in saying need smf running before connect joomla , smf together? or there install simple adds joomla??
basically i'd happy http://www.joomla.org has set-up (http://forum.joomla.org/), how did it!
can please advise steps should take eg.
1. joomla working
2. smf wokring standalone
3. run smf-joomla bridge
also there simple gallery mods either joomla or smf?

getting invision use joomla login/registration module easy, doing reverse getting joomla use invisions member database alot harder because invision uses md5 salted passwords joomla uses md5 (without additional salt). if starting off fresh both joomla , invision connect invisions login via external login module (invision 2.1.x). if need further instructions let me know.
