Understanding Audio Output Options - Raspberry Pi Forums
hello all,
have had pi while never got further using xbmc on it.
dusted off last week , managed setup media server streaming via upnp. have pc speakers connected 3.5mm jack , using android handset play music stored on pi or handset.
above setup okay , wasnt expecting crystal clear audio. have read enough posts realise 3.5mm jack has problems.
want take setup further , improve audio , usability of it. don't no raspberry pi components , limitations or audio quality matter!
1. usb 3.5mm jack adapter improve sound?

steer clear of usb soundcard ebay, looks more little dodgy.
there 3rd option. use hdmi audio extractor or hdmi amplifier. allows high quality sound (and 5.1+) , works out of box without needed install drivers etc. check out dx.com extractors. hdmi amplifiers ideal, expensive of course. luck!
