Powering off a 12VDC outlet

hi power arduino uno, relay/relay sheild , realy loud piezo siren using boats 12v outlet,
i don't want arduino's voltage regulator overheat input voltage 12v supply alright?

also arduino has in rugged case due fact in boat (authough placed in generaly dry part of boat),
any recomendations on 12v outlet connector , case?

in advance,
alex  :)

i'd cheap/used cellphone car charger mini-usb or micro-usb connector.  should provide reasonably regulated 5v 500 ma can connect right gnd , +5v on arduino (after cutting off connector).  can run wire through small hole in case , seal silicone seal.
