um, what? slow ubuntu, ran better ubuntu?
primary difference between ubuntu , xubuntu window manager. ubuntu uses gnome , xubuntu uses xfce. xubuntu perform better ubuntu if computer's graphics card poor or don't have memory (< 512mb). bottleneck celeron processor. watch top or system monitor see what's going on system. if cpu pegs @ 100% whenever something, try lighter-weight linux distro puppy.
