Using Vin pin safely
hi,
i want power arduino safely vin , gnd using 9v battery. cannot use 2.1 mm power plug or 9v adapter jack since don't have following parts: http://arduino.cc/playground/uploads/learning/9v_tut_1.jpg. don't have time buy that.
my concern want feed arduino board(with wifi shield on it) using vin pin 9v battery. have read in forums here wiring vin , gnd in wrong way risky , can kill board voltage regulator. possible prevent using diode @ end of gnd pin?
any ideas?

you right, wiring vin wrong can kill board. have 2 wires -- it's hard wrong! if have 9v battery clip red wire , black wire. hook red wire vin, black wire gnd, , don't wrong
if want diode, hook in series red wire (anode: red wire, cathode: vin pin).

the rugged audio shield: line in, mic in, headphone out, microsd socket, potentiometer, play/record wav files
