Thread: Is there a way to diagnose my failing monitor/video?

hi guys,

posted in "multimedia & video" section no 1 commented. wonder if here can help? fired computer , screen switched off after desktop showed. had unplug monitor , plug in image. monitor?

"my old sony multiscan e400 has started doing strange things. switching off alone (i have unplug , restart monitor), changing screen resolutions, blurring, changing hues whilst in use , few other undesireable habits.

there way can tell if it's screen's fault or video output?

have able continue work lovely little linux box , can't afford downtime prove catastrophic. need start saving new monitor? posting in right section?

appreciated.

million in advance.

martin"

i think way tell be

a) plug monitor different computer: if problems persist, monitor @ fault

b) plug different monitor box , see if problems persist: if so, video out problem.

if don't have machine or monitor, i'd grab free crt off craigslist or salvation army. they're practically free nowadays nobody wants them anymore. i'd shocked if couldn't find 1 free or >$10.
