Processing + Hacked printer .. where to start?

today decided open old epson printer bought ages ago , try rewiring arduino. luckily didn't take long before got work , run smoothly using adafruit motorshield , replacing cartridges simple marker.
i managed first results programming clumsy lines of code... describing each movement motors have (i using 1 of motors control x , 1 make page go , down) in order draw simple shapes. nothing new really, explore area!

but wondering if tell me start thing going, getting more interesting. planning of using processing, never used before, draw or open bitmap , transform motors movements "printer"..

any advice welcome! lot! 

i assume can't lift pen away paper ?

if true "printer" "etch sketch" toy. lot's of people have interfaced toys arduino 2 stepper motors.

try google "arduino etch sketch" should give pointers started.

Crossfader Arduino Tutorial

hello i'm super newb please don't bash me much. i'm using led's , i've connected them correctly (finally) , wondering why program here ( http://www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/colorcrossfader ) doesn't work? say's haven't declared crossfade. read directions on top , said crossfade needs used list order of colors. isn't declared in main part (void loop() )? or need declared before? nevermind void on bottom , needed before voidloop. lol anyways playing rgb led's wondering if has specific way of making them fade in , out different colors?
