Thread: No login screen after booting Ubuntu
after i've booted ubuntu (mediacenter), logon screen not showing.
thing showing orange color (the default color).
it's connected tv supports 1920x1080p , it's set 16:9.
how resolve this?
xorg.conf attached.
edit:
when i'm running 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop' , 'startx' in tty2, can see desktop , whatever want to.
error lays in login.
couldn't figure out is.
have changed gdm-theme while ago, haven't been troubles before now.
i'm running 2.6.28-14-generic kernel, ubuntu 9.04.
when i'm logged in , looking @ nvidia-settings, resolution 1920x1080.
actually, realized automatic logged in user `media` , there no background , no possiblity right click on desktop.
i've solved it.
the case this:
have enabled automatic login user `media` had no password (had done /etc/shadow/ user got "blank" password).
when system logged in user, background orange showing without else.
problem.
solve problem, did this:
1. logged in tty, pressing ctrl+alt+1.
in x-session removed user `media` obvious making trouble gdm.code:orrie@mediacenter:~$ sudo -i password: root@medaicenter:~# /etc/init.d/gdm stop root@mediacenter:~# startx
system > administration > users , groups
after i've done that, booted in recovery mode , logged in user , running command:
then when i'm booted computer up, gdm-theme loading , login regular user.code:orrie@mediacenter:~$ sudo deluser media && sudo rm -rf /home/media/
bug-problem solved!
be aware loosing media-data if deleting home directory user `media`.
