Coarse and fine adjustment knobs

for typical lab power supply adjustable coarse , fine knobs voltage adjustment, can tell knob uses 10 turn pot , 1 uses 1 turn?

neither, coarse+fine alternative 10-turn pot.  10-turn pot gives better stability suspect.  tedious adjust time - best used situation fine tuning common operation.

for lab power supply want zoom between 5 , 12v, say, , want set value fine knob - split coarse , fine works here.

i suppose have 10-turn "coarse" , standard pot "very fine" adjustment...  tolerance , stability of coarse-adjust pot more important.
