Help with Parallax 2x16 Serial LCD?

i trying lcd working, seems nothing works.
i started searching around, , found link, it's dead. link: www.cyberblob.net/parallaxlcd.zip
my code isn't working either. here code:

and on of lcd device, have switch 1 set off, , switch 2 set on, ask me in documentation.
i've tried changing "serial.write" "serial.print" , "serial.println" , nothing happened still.

any highly appreciated!

i think have send text display.
and make sure dipswitches right 9600.
(if don't have backlight version won't work.)

it uses 'software serial' though.

when using arduino tx (d1/pin1) should disconnect usb first?  not sure.
disconnect lcd tx when programming.  disconnect usb.  connect lcd.  power up.  ?
