RPi not booting, PWR and ACT LEDs always ON - Raspberry Pi Forums

hey all.

i've had pi (model b, rev2 512mb ram) month , half now. had been working fine, until today when noticed couldn't log on. there no activity indicated green (act) led. trying reboot device power (microusb) plug exhibits following symptoms:
  • power (red) led on , stable.
  • act (green) led on not flash. not once, after plugging in power cable. it's bright, stable, "on" green light, bright red led.
  • there no video output @ composite jack (i cannot test hdmi atm).
have tried far (with components , cables unplugged apart power , sd card):
  • using different power supply bought altogether pi rs components. same result, guess not psu.
  • using different sd card rpi (same model , revision) works fine on other device.
  • using third sd card runs fine on rpi, not on problematic one.
  • measuring voltage between tp1 , tp2 shows stable 4.99v
  • testing polyfuse f3 tp2 showed 5.00v input voltage psu (on outside of board) , 4.98v stable voltage output pi (the side of polyfuse closer sd card).
  • removing sd card , plugging in power cable shows faint green act led, should case normal.
  • on safe side, tried updating latest bootcode.bin, fixup.dat, , startup.elf github.
before device started experiencing problem had been running pure debian wheezy (not raspbian) without having been powered down weeks (though has been rebooted few times).

has experienced issue? may causing , think pi dead?

in advance.

update: believe have managed find issue. while inspecting board magnifying glass bad soldering revealed crack 1.5mm in length , 1.0mm in width on top , @ edge of 'hynix' memory ic on same side r15 is. how may have happened beyond comprehension board had been gently laid atop pink case on desk away thay may have caused direct impact , thing sitting beside being working laptop.

if problem, can repaired , how cost (i assume replacement of ic)?

damage can seen here.
