Raspi on USB Mifi, not wifi - Raspberry Pi Forums
hello everyone,
have e5830s huawei, mifi web interface (gateway) accessible via wifi.
, modem automatically connects internet after have configured gateway. mfi can host 5 wifi clients.
also, when connected win7 pc via usb, barely doesnt need install , configure software setup apn done in gateway, being said that, pc connected mifi via usb automatically connected internet.
when connected raspi, detects hspa modem (w/c can seen in lsusb), guess dont need modeswitch.
below display of lsusb:
bus 001 device 008: id 12d1:1446 huawei technologies co., ltd. e1552/e1800/e173 (hspa modem)
1 thing have noticed models listed usb 3g sticks , not mifi.
btw, directly connect raspi's usb , doesnt need usb power hub because have shorted 2 usb fuses. using thicker wire gauge , using 25a power supply.
have search in forum , found thread:

have done guy has done cannot connecto mifi/internet:
questions are:
1. how able know if wwan0 interface created?
2. have edited /etc/network/interfaces , have added wwan0 (changed wlan0 wwan0) still cannot connect internet.
3. have installed network-manager-gnome , added mobile broadband configuration , have chosen correctly country , provider still cannot connect mifi/internet.
4. have tried sakis3g, connection failed, seems try configure that configured (apn) mifi.
doing wrong? suggestions?

you can use command see list of interfaces , ip addresses have etc , can use these commands manually bring or close down interface first thing check name of interface device appears as. use ifconfig before , after connected usb ports check this.
code: select all
ifconfigcode: select all
sudo ifup *interface* sudo ifdown *interface*
raspberrypi
