some people may want try raspberry pi project , learn more linux find little overwhelming begin. in hope encourage them started have attached software kit detailed instructions make wireless connected browser controlled photo viewer tv. not sophisticated system offers following features.
- public cifs (samba) share allows photos uploaded on network.
- web server provides control of viewer through browser.
- photos placed in folders on share allow sorting category or owner such "vacations" or "joanspics". 1 of these folders can selected display through browser interface. subfolders created in displayed folder may included or ignored control option display primary or extended set of photos.
- resizetoaster folder available on share. photos dropped folder downsized suitable display resolution popped out onto share placed appropriate photo folder. saves space on share partition , reduces cpu demand display program.

system uses feh photo display, imagemagick resizing , cherokee web server. bash shell scripts provide application control , python used web interface cgi programs.

instructions avoid gui tools , rely entirely on command line in order expose raspbian system structure , methods , prepare user remote administration through telnet session. tasks include creating directories , copying files, editing configuration files, creating disk partition , filesystem, upgrading , installing repositories, downloading , installing deb package, , simple compile , install source. except creating initial raspbian image on sdhc card done on raspberry pi.

photopikit gzipped tar archive includes instructions.txt file have attached separately zip file may viewing on system not support tar archive format , see involved.

of course kit comes no guarantee, development photopi have stuck of flat panel tv working quite well. model b rev 1 256mb memory model should work fine if want save $10 , don't need ethernet port.

security warning: system offers public access cifs share , unencrypted (telnet) remote login. should used on trusted network protected outside access.

my company uses aladdin etoken pro authentication on vpn connections. etoken requires pki client application on client machine before os recognize it. app , token work fine on xp, use ubuntu on laptop. aladdin has offered linux version of client, rpm. convinced our internal guys rpms, , i've been trying work couple days. begin with, hp pavilion dv4-1435dx laptop running jaunty 64-bit. - started out converting .rpm .deb using alien: code: sudo alien -d pkiclient-5.00.28-0.x86_64.rpm - worked fine , got nice little .deb - next, ran .deb install client: code: sudo dpkg -i pkiclient_5.00.28-1_amd64.deb - , executed without errors/issues. pdf rpm said there should launcher @ applications > etoken > start etoken pki client, didn't exist. figured might because installed deb instead of rpm. bounced box, still wasn't there. no big deal... - install network manager can configure vpn connection use token: code: sudo aptit...

Crossfader Arduino Tutorial

hello i'm super newb please don't bash me much. i'm using led's , i've connected them correctly (finally) , wondering why program here ( http://www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/colorcrossfader ) doesn't work? say's haven't declared crossfade. read directions on top , said crossfade needs used list order of colors. isn't declared in main part (void loop() )? or need declared before? nevermind void on bottom , needed before voidloop. lol anyways playing rgb led's wondering if has specific way of making them fade in , out different colors?
