electromagnet and PSU
hello,
i'm trying use elctromagnets arduino...building them shown here:
http://education.jlab.org/workbench/magnetstand/coil.html
that project calls psu @ 3.3 amps, 12v...i have 12v psu @ 5 amps.
when put electromagnet in circuit...just using 12v, 5amp relays...if have polarity of electromagnet 1 way...it kills psu , no power...when reverse polarity of wires...everything works fine in circuit. i'm curious why be...i haven't messed around making electromagnets before. they're curious!
thanks info!

no sure wrong. doesn't make sense @ all. not how coils work, reverse power , reverse field. must doing else.
