Yet Another POV Clock Question

hello arduino experts out there.

i working on pov clock project final project associates degree. far have learned how basic programming of arduino uno, such blinking led's , knight rider sequence. did very basic pov spell out predefined word reads x-y grid. have looked @ many many many internet sites arduino specific pov clock code cannot find much. although have found plenty using pic's. hoping can point me arduino sketch code make one.

so far here plans , parts have.

i use 8-led's willing change if of problem (i don't think different smaller cluster of led's)

i want characters appear 5 led's wide, seems pretty common.

i going using adafruit rtc ds1307 breakout board take care of clock stuff, (setting time computer) not sure how interface pov code. ( have seen basic code clock displays on serial display , understand how works don't know how use rtc ds1307). 

the motor speed control independent arduino stuff.

my electronics experience extensive asking pov clock code or getting rtc clock code work pov code. have experience in programming other microcontrollers 8051's in assembly (yuck), , have learned how write c code not @ expert level.

8 leds should fine, 8 pixels high, right? sounds fine.

i thought blinkenlight shield page had example code sort of thing. check out thread:

if can display "blinkenlight" can display time.

you need find time clock, turn string (hint: sprintf). table lookup find bit pattern relevant digit , turn each column on in sequence desire.

it should pretty simple, have stab @ , see how go.
