electric confetti cannon- warming up nichrome wire
hello guys. sorry i`m new this, question may lame. sorry again if i`m breaking forum rules.
i`m trying build electric confetti launcher disposable cannons ones here http://www.confettimaster.com/streamer.electric.confetti.cannons.html
basically each disposable barrel holds sealed co2 tank. output plug holds 2 wires connected nichrome thread. when drive enough current through wires nichrome warms up, burns seal , canon go boom. there nothing sophisticated there, tried shooting them simple 12 v battery , worked fine.
now i`m trying use arduino set wireless launcher , since don`t have education on electronics cant calculate proper way connect cannon arduino.
my guess need kind of mosfet drive enough current have no guess how choose right one.
for example, have irf530a - can hold 14 current. enough? i`m going use 12v lead-acid batteries, can give extreme high ampreage.
besides, ok connect mosfet directly cannon, or perhaps need put resistors somewhere in between? or optoisolator break circuit?

if me, i'd start measuring current required fire thing, connecting straight battery ammeter in series load.
then, i'd go looking mosfets handle bit more current absolutely needed. think it's rms value rather peak/surge need at. if run them @ absolute limits long might not last long you'd like.
i consider using opto-isolator between output pin , mosfet, level of protection in case goes horribly wrong. connecting parts dead simple, quick snoop around google , should able find loads of circuit diagrams. 100kohm resistor pulling mosfet's gate ground might needed, make sure stays off when it's not supposed doing anything.
hope helps!
