i have 2 pcs - dell optiplex gx270 , old old packard bell imedia. when plug 256mb stick of ram pb detects 182mb whereas dell detects 244mb. know why pb detect less? makes difference in performance capabilities.

different sticks of ram can have different densities , timings. old motherboards can deal 1 timing or density. can deal first 1 encounter. if using more 1 stick, try changing order in positioned.
may stick of ram won't work in motherboard.
